Privacy Policy

Chordisplay is a tool for storing chord charts and building setlists. This policy describes everything it collects, which is very little.

What we store

• Your email address. It identifies your account and receives your login links. There is no password.
• Your name. First and last, so the people you play with see who they're sharing a setlist with rather than a list of email addresses. Whoever invites you may fill it in; you can change it.
• A profile picture, if you upload one. Optional, and most accounts have none — without one we draw your initials instead. It is visible to people you share a setlist with, and to nobody else.
• Your content. The charts and setlists you create, and who you've given access to them.

What we don't do

• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs.
• No location, contacts, device identifiers, or access to your photo library — a profile picture is a single file you choose to send us.
• We don't sell or share your information with anyone.

Who can see your charts

Nothing is public. Your charts and setlists are visible only to you and to people you have explicitly invited. Signing up gives you an empty library of your own; it doesn't give you access to anyone else's, and it doesn't give anyone access to yours.

Service providers

Four companies process data on our behalf: our database and hosting providers store your content, our email provider delivers login links, and our payment provider handles subscriptions. They act only on our instructions.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by Stripe, and card details go to them and never to us — we never see or store a card number. Stripe holds the billing information it needs to take a payment, and we hold only the status of your subscription and when the current period ends.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists, and no longer. We don't delete or expire anything on a schedule. If a subscription ends, the library locks — every chart and setlist in it becomes unplayable, and all of it stays exactly where it is. Nothing is deleted, at any distance in time, and subscribing again brings all of it back unchanged. You can export everything as plain text files while locked, and at any other time. The only thing that removes your data is you.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account from within the app at any time. That closes it immediately: you're signed out, nobody you shared with can reach your charts any more, and your subscription stops renewing.

There is a thirty-day recovery window. For thirty days after you close it, signing in again restores the account exactly as it was. After that your account, your name, your profile picture and your charts are removed permanently, and we have no way to reinstate them.

One thing outlives that, and only one: a setlist that other people were on is left standing, locked, so that one of them can take it over and keep their band's running order. It holds the songs as they were copied into it and the names of the people who had access. Setlists nobody else was ever on are deleted with everything else.

If you have shared setlists with other people, closing your account takes your charts out of those setlists too. The app tells you how many people that affects before you confirm.

Children

Chordisplay isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
